Khao Sok trekking

Full day trekking

The full-day trek is a jungle-based activity available for people who would like to walk, get some fresh air, see nature up close and personal, and enjoy themselves in the beautiful setting of Khao Sok National Park. The trek is around 14 kilometers long and starts from the Tree Top River Huts Resort. The fee for this activity also includes entrance to the Khao Sok National Park?? An experienced English-speaking guide will accompany you on the trek and will provide information about the Park and its topical plants, trees and native animals that are found along the way. Included in this activity is a lunch to eat in the jungle as well as the chance to relax and enjoy a swim at one of the Park’s waterfalls.

Khao Sok Rafflesia

Rafflesia

This activity provides a chance to learn all about the Rafflesia, the largest flower in Thailand; and possibly the whole world! So far, the biggest Rafflesia found during this activity was 90 centimetres wide; so, here’s your opportunity to see if you can better that. The flower itself is red and orange in colour, only grows in rainforest jungle like Khao Sok, and flowers between November and April each year. Surprisingly, the Rafflesia actually comes from a genus of parasitic flowering plants. There are approximately 28 species of this plant to be found in South-east Asia, mainly in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and the southern part of Thailand.

Khao Sok lake

One Day Lake Trip

Of all the activities on offer, the one day lake trip seems to be the one that customers enjoy the most; and once you’ve experienced it you’ll know why! The lake is around 60 kilometres from the Tree Top River Huts Resort, and it takes about an hour by car or minivan to get there. Once the transport has arrived at the Rajaprabapa dam site, a long-tail boat will take the group to the dam itself, a trip of about an hour, where lunch in a raft house awaits. Groups for this trip are usually about 12 to 14 people in total and are accompanied throughout by an experienced, English-speaking, guide. On the way to the raft house you will be able to see the beautiful and spectacular limestone mountains that rise up from the lake, their slopes covered by a thick blanket of greenery. After lunch people can relax and enjoy themselves with canoeing and swimming around the raft house, before the group heads out on a trek to a mountain cave; a trip that will take around 2-3 hours to complete. The cave itself is amazing, as you can walk right through it and exit in a different place. Along the way you’ll see waterfalls, rocks, crystals, and the colony of bats that live in the cave. Tree Tops River Huts Resort highly recommends this activity to its customers; many of whom love the experience so much that they re-visit the resort just to do this trip all over again!
